Before you pay 3,000 dollars for a curly puppy, read the chapter about who should not get one. The Lagotto Romagnolo is the most searched hypoallergenic family breed in America right now, and most of what's written about it is marketing. This book isn't. Written by an Italian author with a background in agricultural sciences and animal nutrition, who has lived with Lagotti and intends to breed them, this is the guide that spends as much time talking you out of the breed as into it. Because a Lagotto in the wrong home is a disaster for the dog first. Inside you'll find:Why this dog gets bored rather than tired, and what that means for your eveningsThe behaviors nobody warns you about: systematic digging, fixation, and the barking that isn't at nothingThe hypoallergenic truth, without the sales pitch, and how to test yourself properly before you commitThe coat: matting, ear care, real grooming costs, and the clip choice that halves your workloadHealth and genetics: the two DNA tests you must see in writing, and the hip scores that matterHow to find a breeder who deserves your money, and the red flags in a booming marketThe first 30 days, hour by hour where it countsScent games and amateur truffle work: giving that famous nose an actual jobHonest comparisons with the Golden Retriever, the Poodle, the Doodles, the Portuguese and Spanish Water Dogs, the Barbet and the Bichon, with sizes, weights and temperaments side by sideNo breed-club poetry. No promises nobody can keep. Just what living with Italy's truffle dog is actually like, from someone who does. The right dog for you is not the most impressive breed. It's the one you can genuinely live with, every day.
